The Certified Homelessness Advocate credential represents a significant professional achievement. Learn how to manage your credential and the resources available.
All Certified Homelessness Advocates (CHAs) have an account in our online portal (hosted by Exam.net). Access to the online portal becomes available on the first day after certification is conferred. Submission of all continuing education and the renewal process takes place within the online portal, ensuring streamlined access to resources and support for advocates dedicated to addressing homelessness.
Certified Homelessness Advocates must renew every three years. You can begin accruing continuing education hours immediately upon earning the certification
If you are retiring, the Homelessness Advocate Certification Board would like to thank you for your service to the homelessness advocacy community. Stay connected with the Retired Status designation.
Reinstatement of a lapsed credential is not the same process as recertification. Reinstatement of the HACB may be available to eligible individuals who are considered “not currently certified” after their Certified Homelessness Advocate certification has expired or has been resigned, retired, or revoked.
If you are unable to meet recertification requirements due to an unusual and/or extenuating circumstance, consider applying for Inactive Status.
